What’s in the Writing paper?

The B1 Preliminary paper has two parts. Students have to show that they can write different types of text in English. You have 45 minutes to write two compositions, each with 100 words. 

Part 1 is always an email or letter and it is obligatory. In part 2 you have to choose to write either an article or a story-writing. Each task is awarded 20 marks.
